The Preferences window provides the user with basic customizations for the behavior and appearance for the Personnel Folders software. This window can be opened by selecting Preferences under the Edit menu header. The following are details for all the available preference settings:

Display Options
oVisual Theme
This option allows the user to set the display style for the various visual components of the application. This includes the look of the menus, toolbars, and docked windows and tabs. (Default Value: Office 2003.)
oHome page future events
This option determines how far in the future the Future Events table on the Home window will show scheduled items. (Default Value: 3 Months. Minimum Value: 1 Day. Maximum Value: 10 Years.)
oAppend abbreviation to end of schedule name
This option will cause the abbreviated label for a type of schedule to appear after the name of the schedule type.  This can be useful if the abbreviations have been customized.  Personnel Folders may need to be restarted for this setting to fully take effect. (Default Value: False.)
oDisplay precision for decimal numbers
This option determines how many numbers are displayed after the decimal point. (Default Value: 2. Minimum Value: 1. Maximum Value: 99.)
oAutomatically display the following sections...
This option allows the user to specify which main window tabs will be automatically loaded at startup. Not having a tab loaded at startup will speed up the startup process. The tab can still be opened at a later time using the icons in the Standard Toolbar. (Default Value: Home - True; Employees - True; Schedules - True; Calendars - True.)

Files/Paths
oDefault data folder
This path is the default folder location which a new data file will be stored when the new data file setup wizard is ran. The destination folder can still be modified in the wizard but this path will be the location if no changes are made. (Default Value: %PROGRAM FOLDER%\data.)
oDefault backup folder
This path is the default folder location where backups of Personnel Folders data files will be stored. The destination folder can still be modified in the backup data file wizard but this path will be the location if no changes are made. (Default Value: %PROGRAM FOLDER%\backup.)

Calendar Options
oShow time as clock (Month/Week View)
This will cause the applicable calendar to show the time of the schedule as a clock icon instead of in numeric form.  (Default Value: False.)
oShow end time (Month/Week View)
This will cause the applicable calendar to show the end time as well as the start time for the schedule item.  If this is disabled, only the start time will be shown for schedules which do not start at midnight.  (Default Value: False.)
oCompress weekend days (Month View)
This will cause the month view calendar to combine the Saturday and Sunday box into a single split box.  If this is disabled, the Saturday and Sunday boxes will be the same size as the other days of the week.  (Default Value: True.)
oTime scale (Day View)
This setting determines the number of minutes between the major time dividers on the day view calendar.  (Default Value: 30. Minimum Value: 1. Maximum Value: 90.)
oShow minutes on time scale (Day View)
This setting will cause the day view calendar to label the times for the minor time dividers.  If this is disabled, only the major time dividers will be labeled.  This setting may be ignored if the Time scale setting does not provide adequate room to display the time for the minor time dividers.  (Default Value: False.)
oFirst day of week
This setting determines which day of the week is shown first in the month and year calendar views.  (Default Value: Sunday.)

Schedule Colors
The schedule color controls allows you to define the color that each type of schedule item appears on the calendar.  You can change the color by entering the numeric value of the color or by clicking the associated "Color" button to display the Windows color palette control.  The color of the out-of-office schedule and personal time off schedule is overridden by the color associated to the schedule alias.  You can control the schedule alias colors using the schedule alias manager.  You may need to select the refresh option (F5) to make the color changes show up.  The default color settings are:
